If you’re thinking about a plus size lingerie photoshoot, then look no further than Curves Boudoir. The truth is…. looking and feeling confident during your boudoir session has nothing to do with your size or your perceived “imperfections.” Whether you think you’re curvy or plus-sized if you prefer that term – or you think you’re just right, confidence truly comes less from all of that physical….stuff. The client in this post radiates confidence! She walked in ready for her session, excited and positive. She also said “I trust you – do your thing!” to me more than once – signaling to me that she was also confident in my work. Win, win!
The truth is….if you are prepared for your session AND you let ME sweat the small stuff….that will translate into you looking and feeling your most confident! So how does this all work? What do I mean by “Be prepared?”
1. Do your homework!
Read through the emails I’ve sent you- and the guide you got with your session confirmation email. There are so many wonderful tips there that I’ve learned from photographing hundreds of women.
2. Don’t settle for less than perfect with your outfit choices.
Try on lots of options. Pick what flatters you. Pick what you LOVE. Do not pick your wardrobe based on what you “think” you should wear. The client in this blog post told me she tried on LOTS of looks. She sent back things via the mail, too. If you subscribe to a service like Adore Me, don’t be afraid to try something and send it back! The right outfit will come along!
I love her high-waisted set from Adore Me. This is such a good look for curvy girls or frankly for any girl who doesn’t love her mid section. And by the way, it’s okay not to love a part of your body – pick an outfit that flatters you and then have confidence in me to take photos that will accentuate your positives!
3. Primp and shop for your session – it’s fun!
Okay, honestly, waxing is so NOT fun. But other than waxing, your homework for your session prep is literally to shop…. get a manicure/pedicure….and then sit back and relax while we pamper you with professional makeup and hair. Not so bad!
4. TRUST ME!
I know…. this one may be the hardest. I’m a control FREAK myself. It’s normal to be nervous. You’ll hear me say this a ton of times. But inside your head I know you’ve got that running dialogue we all have….You’re stressed because you got a big bruise and you’re worried it will show up. It’s bugging you that you never did lose those last 10 pounds. And frankly, you don’t like having your photo taken. SAME HERE!
Relax. Trust me. Let go of any expectations once the camera starts clicking. I am going to guide you through every single thing. Take a deep breath. Most of my clients actually walk away saying they enjoyed their session. GASP! I know! But it’s true. The best thing I can hear from a client is “I trust you” because it signals to me that I can do my best work with you!
So there it is – confidence comes from being prepared and trusting in your boudoir photographer.
P.S. For the record, this gorgeous lady is so NOT plus-sized. But I know a lot of my curvy girls use that term to search for ideas, so I’ve reluctantly tagged this post with that term.
